Books: Boga Bear: Beat the Heat
           Boga Bear: Staying Cool

Personal Background from the Author:

I'm a children's book writer. The stories I write are recreations of stories I used to tell to my boys as bedtime stories. Each book is a complete, new and different story about Boga Bear and his friends, Skola Squirrel and Bunko Bunny and their adventures growing up in the forest and learning about life, friendship and having fun. Each book is designed for the parent to read to their child(ren) just I told these stories to my children. The age range of my listeners and early readers, is 4-8 year olds.

I'm a 58 year old, single parent of two boys and I live in Roseville. I retired from Pac Bell (sorry I can't call it SBC) in 2002 due to a back disability that prevented my from doing my job effectively. When I retired, I decided to fill my time by recreating the stories I used to tell to my boys. I'm also involved at both of my children's schools, assist in the Track & Field programs at both schools, involved in both Cub and Boy Scouts,  President of my homeowners association and support my children at there various sporting events. Writing is the easy part of my life. Trying to keep up with my boys with there various activities and squeeze in marketing of my books is the hard part.

I decided to become a writer because I wanted to leave my boys something to remember me by.  A legacy that they could read to there children. I'm not in it for the money, but If I can make a buck, so much the better.

I'm also a veteran, having served my time during the Viet Nam War era in the Navy and Naval Air Reserves. I served on the USS Yorktown and was the 3rd person on board to spot the Apollo 8 space craft as it made it's reentry to the earths atmosphere. I was one of the fortunate few during my tour of duty, and during that volatile time of our countries history, that never had to see the war up close.

Sincerely,
Phil Silver
