The National Publicity Summit officially starts on Wednesday, July 14th. From 7 p.m. 10 p.m. you will meet along with the other participants for a special pre-Summit prep session. This will  prepare you for the most the next day’s “Meet the Media sessions.”

The “Meet the Media” sessions start Thursday, July 15th. There will be a total of five “Meet the Media” sessions throughout the Summit. During each session there will be anywhere from 10-20 editors, journalists and producers who will arrive and be accessible to you for those three-hour sessions.

You’ll be able to meet the media face-to-face, shake hands and talk with them about what you’re promoting. You’ll then be able to go around and meet the ones who would be most appropriate for what you’re promoting.

All the attendees won’t be approaching the same media people because everyone has different topics and different goals. While you may really want to talk to a CNN producers, another attendee will want to visit with a writer for Good Housekeeping.

You’ll have special “appointments” to meet the journalists from the shows, magazines and newspapers you most want to cover you At our last Summit, everyone had the chance to meet the journalists/producers they wanted to meet and that’s how it will be again.

Before coming to the Summit, you’ll be trained on how to give your pitch (or ask your question) in 30 seconds or less. Acquiring this skill alone is worth the price of admission because it’s THE key to getting the media to give you coverage.

When: The National Publicity Summit starts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14 and ends at 6 p.m. on Saturday July 17.

All of the events with the exception of the first Wednesday evening session will take place at New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania, which is located directly across from Madison Square Garden at 401 Seventh Ave in New York City. Phone number is 212-736-5000.

The Wednesday evening session from 7 10 p.m. will take place one block away at the Southgate Hotel, 371 Seventh Ave., 212-563-1800.

The Swan- Tales of the Sacramento Valley
By Andrew F. O'Hara

"Best new book out about people since O' Henry died!"
AAA Review May 12, 2004

THE SWAN

Much has been written about the rich history of the
Sacramento Valley – the Gold Rush of 1849,
Sutter’s Fort, the Donner Party, and the Pony Express.

Now “The Swan” brings you tales inspired by the
people who live in the valley today: their dreams,
their hopes and loves, their weaknesses and
their personal tragedies.

Two children meet in a field under the stars
and form an unforgettable bond. An old soldier
struggles to live with the shame of his past,
while a young minister learns to die in peace
with his.  A baseball player’s home run
saves a crowd from disaster.  A modern
Don Quixote leads his town to war
against the planets; two lovers are
reunited by a remarkable camera, and
a weary policeman searches for answers
to the riddle of death.

A thread of ancient legend and mystery
binds the people of each tale together
in a web that will endear you, forever,
to the charm and beauty of the Sacramento Valley.
